“I Promise to Hear: Touch Me with Understanding”
Have you ever had a discussion and the words just seemed to upset you more and more, despite how nice the phrasing was? Maybe the individual was trying to advise you on some action or decision that you made. Maybe he or she was trying to help you to see something in a new way. Why is that? Now keep in mind, I’m talking about someone who you know cares about and respects you, not someone who, through his or her tone, body language or words, is being disrespectful to you. I’m speaking of people who you know through their track record and relationship to you that they care for you.

“Summary”
The people who love us take the time to share things with us that they believe will benefit us; however, we often block what is being said because of our selfish desire to protect our positions and feelings. Make a mental and emotional adjustment to love those speaking to, advising or instructing you. You will find it much easier to hear what they have to say while learning something in the process.

“Daily Interaction”
Tell a story together. Flip a coin to decide who goes first. The first person initiates the story by telling a story involving a man and a woman. If the man is talking, the woman gets into some type of trouble in which the man has to rescue her, and vice versa. Both you and your partner must stop at a certain point and hand the story off to one another. Continue to hand the story off at least six times each until one of you decides to pick it up from the point where the man and woman in story met, which then begins their story.
