Before you can travel from one place to another, you must first know where you are. A relationship will not get better if both the male and the female don’t commit to it. Ladies, if you are the only one striving to maintain and build the relationship, and he shows little to no concern about it, it is destined to fail. By the same token, gentlemen, if you are the only one giving and she really has no interest in building the relationship, you may be trying to squeeze water out of a brick. One person alone cannot maintain a relationship.

The core issue behind change is whether your partner means enough to you to change or to at least learn about your partner’s needs and strive to make him or her happy. This simple saying applies: “Whatsoever [you sow], that shall [you] also reap” (Galatians 6:7). If you place the needs of another person above your own needs, it is inevitable that someone will place you needs above their own. The other issue here is that you may not reap from the same person into whom you sow.

The fact remains, however, that you will reap what you sow. So never stop loving, respecting, caring or giving.
